HIGHLIGHTS

We’ve taken advantage of our vast experience with Pyrenees trip-planning, and created this all-inclusive pack which includes visits to some of the most beautiful spots in the Pyrenees. National Parks, medievel villages, markets, hiking excursions, wild landscapes, and various locations only few tourists visit!

Kokopeli´s self-guided tour-planning service allows our clients to take advantage of our agency´s vast knowledge of the area, acquired through years of experience, while at the same time, enjoying the tour at your own pace, without a personal guide. Our planned self-guided tour will allow you to reach some of the Pyrenees´most amazing places, at an easy and enjoyable pace.

The route and activities on this tour were constructed out of our experience and understanding of self-guided tour planning. The route allows clients to rest easy (at a lovely mountainside hotel or a special country house) on the one hand, while travelling in your own pace on the other. We will send you to places that don´t even appear in the guidebooks, and introduce you to magical sites and wonderful countryside scenery. We´ve planned a tour covering all of the must-see spots of the area.

DESCRIPTION

Day 1 - Barcelona - Medievel Villages

We will set out northwards towards the Collsecabra. This region is the very heart of Catalunya and is characterized by steep cliffs, forests, isolated farms and ancient villages. We will visit the village of Rupit. Going back hundreds of years, we will wander along the picturesque winding streets. This enchanting village is still inhabited, but we will not find here the hordes of tourists who crowd the streets of Barcelona, and the contact with the locals is direct.

We will carry on, riding towards the Panta de Sau, a lake surrounded by tall mountains, where optional activities such as kayaking and off-road segwey can be added. These give the fully immersive feeling of being one with nature.

We will end the day with dinner at the village and spend the night at a hotel in the area.

Day 2 - La Seu d´Urgell - Espot

Driving pass the town La Seu d’Urgell, we will head up into the principality of Andorra for a few hours (shopping! Yay, shopping!). After spending a short time in the small mountain nation, we will leave Andorra and head towards the village Espot.

This day includes long hours of riding over winding mountainside roads. If time permits, we could ride up a challenging narrow path up to the cliffs overlooking the abandoned villages of Jou and Son.

We’ll spend the night at a hotel in Espot.

Day 3 - Rafting - Aiguastortes National Park - Val d´Aran

This morning we will begin our day with one of 2 options:

The first option is a rough and exciting river-rafting. Rushing waters, fantastic scenery and great fun – could you ask for more? This exciting, challenging and highly enjoyable activity takes place on the breathtakingly beautiful Noguera Pallaresa river. Here we take into account more than just the rafting itself, one cannot forget the surroundings in the process – the wild scenery, the varied flora, the cliffs and all the excitement of nature.

Wet-suits and safety equipment will keep you safe and warm, and the professional team of guides will ensure your safe arrival at the finishing point. No previous experience is necessary, nor is taking part compulsory (though it is highly recommended!).

The second option is to make our way along ranges and picturesque villages towards the Aiguas Tortes National Park – one of the most famous and beautiful parks in Spain. We will be taken, in park vehicles, up to the Pic Amitges at 2400 meters high. Depending on the season (about till the middle of June) there is a good chance of seeing snow and glaciers floating on the high mountain lakes.

After returning back to Espòt from the park, we will head towards the beautiful and unique Aran Valley, where we´ll spend the night.

Day 4 - Val d´Aran - France - Gavarnie

Riding through difficult winding roads, high mountain passes, and plenty of turns, we will pass through the beautiful scenery of the Aran Valley and over into France to the other side of the Pyrenees. We will ride through several mountain passes, including the world renowned Col du Portillon. From here we will go to witness one of the Pyrenees’ most unique natural phenomenons – Gavarnie’s glacial cirque and waterfall. The site itself is breath-taking and the roads leading there no less so. It is, without a doubt, a must-see!

Towards evening we will make our way to our hotel in the town of Lourdes.

Day 5 - Pont´d´Espagne - Col de Soller - Torla

In the morning, after another gorgeous ride, we will reach Pont d’Espagne, with its numerous waterfalls. This is a gorgeous site where a cable car can be taken to the higher summits and the famous Gaube Lake. Afterwards we will drive up to Col de Soller, reaching several mountain passes, with many impressive views and challenging rides.

We will start our ride in the afternoon back towards the Spanish border, and will continue until reaching the medieval village of Torla, where we´ll enjoy a dinner in a nice restaurant and where we will spend the night.

Day 6 - Ordesa National Park - Sierra de Guara

In the morning we will go on a visit in Ordesa National Park and Monte Perdido – The Lost Mountain. This is one of Europe´s most famous parks. After a short hike we will head out of the valley and towards the region of Sierra de Guara - a region full of gorges, creeks, limestone caves, and breath taking overall natural beauty.

We will reach the ancient village of Alquezar, where we can stroll through the ancient alleyways and streets. We will spend the night in a hotel nearby.

Day 7 - Montserrat - Barcelona

Riding over amazing roads, we will make our way towards the holy Montserrat - The Serrated Mountain. After a short visit to the monestary and church, there is an option of taking a cable car up the mountain toawards the higher peaks, where a short hike can be enjoyed.

Afterwards we will make our way back to Barcelona where our tour will end.
